Unlocked.
May be worth while messaging WalterOrtell about the slipway they added.
Also, it looks to me like Marlboro is a candidate for an unsplit on that short section.
Unlocked further in case you wanted to do those slipways too.
Kyle,
Thanks. I pinged WalterOrtell offering guidance, but no response as yet.
Fixed all slipways, a few routing and other issues and added speed info along the length of Marlboro Drive.
Did not unsplit anything. Read the wiki a few times, but I think some personal guidance on the topic would be a good idea. At the Kollonade perhaps? ![]()
Guys,
What’s happened to mapping for simplicity ? There are too many slipways / AT Grade connectors appearing all over the show in places where it’s not needed imo.
Guidance is here : https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/At-grade_connectors
Hi Carel,
I’m all for this, but nearly receiving a ticket for a late turn indicator where there was a non-mapped at At Grade Connector / Slipway on Monday (South Rd / Impala), made me do the correction; rather than log a User Complaint. I had to take the “normal road” for missing the non-mapped slipway in heavy traffic and a Metro Cop pulled me over for that. Luckily I could explain to him what happened and he (most probably) was in a good mood, so I got off with a warning.
In one of the other cases I requested an unlock in the Sandton Area, there was a User Complaint logged for a non-mapped slipway. According to the wiki, this is a valid use case for adding a slipway.
If however, as Sandton AM, you feel it is not necessary to add these slipways and address user complaints, I will defer to you guidance.

Hi Eben,
I’m not splitting hairs here, I’m merely pointing to the Wiki for guidance on this. One of the best things with Waze is that anyone can help to map areas and fix problems. This is unfortunately also one of it’s major headaches. Most new editors are not aware of the forum or the wiki, and jump in to map or complete an area based on what it already looks like. We are supposed to set the example for that, and if every slipway is mapped, that is the example that they see.
Most of us that have edited and used Waze for a while jumped in and made our areas ‘beautiful’ by splitting lanes and adding slipways initially, only to revert our own changes a week or two later, as it complicated some things and broke other things that was working fine before we got stuck in.
We have redone large portions of major roads in Sandton and surrounds probably about 4 times in as many years due to over-zealous editing - our own and others. That is why most of it is / was locked down at level 4.
We should not map to accommodate any client shortcomings, especially missing early warnings for turns. The client itself needs to be fixed if advanced warning is not consistently given.
Here is the Wiki entry :
Follow South Road and Marlboro Drive to the east from here, and measure that against the Wiki, not against my or your opinion.
Hi Carel,
Point taken and with a few exceptions; I’m then also guilty of contributing to the plethora of slipways on that stretch of road in the last few days :?
I’m here to learn from the senior editors’ years of experience and ironing out the better practice for all of us editors to follow. I’ll heed your guidance too in future, thanks!

No problem, we all learn new things and tricks every day
Sorry for being so abrupt, as the intention is not to pick fights. Exceptions we can handle, as they always pop up.
Have fun editing and thanks for the effort you put in.
