My Level: 3
Reason for request: Overview of Gas Main replacement.
Seen on 26th.Feb. temporary (leaning on a lamppost) restriction to ‘Authorised Vehicles Only’ so request downlock to maintain ‘watching brief’ as on Chertsey Road two way working closure, and to add TBR for buses and taxis as per High Street.
Also:- I cannot find any justification for the repeating TBR on this section of Chertsey Rd.
Is it possible that it should only have applied for one night?
The segment restriction by kieranrawley is new (only added in January) so it may reflect some recent change that won’t yet be in GSV or aerials. I suggest you PM him and ask.
In the meantime (oh for the return of the gizmo that lets you see if someone else is working on something!!) I had a look around, could not see anything that would make me thing this road was closed Friday nights for ever, so I removed the restriction.
I dealt with a UR at the junction of The Broadway & Chertsey Rd a few weeks ago saying that Chertsey Rd was closed every Friday & Saturday night (presumably to allow drunks to drop thier kebabs in the street without the fear of being hit by an Uber?) but couldn’t find any TROs, info or press stories about it so didn’t add any restrictions.
Shouldn’t the temp restrictions on The Broadway match the times of the daytime closures on Chertsey Rd?
PS: don’t trust GSV or satellite images in the area, they’re out of date. I was in Woking end of Jan and corrected Maybury Rd, Duke St, Locke Way and Broadway.
The closure is currently daytime, coming back into force at 8 a.m. although I had originally thought it was going to be 24hrs. The work consists of progressive reconnection of properties to the replacement plastic service and is not a continuous excavation, it must be expected to move and I will confirm tomorrow.
Edit:- adding confusion, it IS 24 hrs. Misread times as daily start- finish. Visiting tomorrow using bus pass.
Kieranrawley has replied that the TBR was based on a detailed UR, though not the one mentioned by Jonv-uk.
[abbr=Boots on the Ground]BoG[/abbr] confirms that - contrary to one.network appearance - the closure and two way working are still valid, at least for now.
The ‘Buses only’ TBR on The Broadway mirrors that on the High Street, where there is also a contraflow cycle lane. It is not clear whether the ANPR camera at the Station is operating, and I am not going to test it! I’ll stick to the bus for observing the development of the works over the next few weeks.
Now it seems there are no more closures in the area should Chertsey Rd revert back to one-way?
Also should the temp restrictions on The broadway also be removed?
When I last visited they looked as though they were installing rising bollards at the station end. If completed then yes to to Chertsey road.
As far as the Broadway is concerned I’m guessing that the restrictions will be permanent as with the rest of the High street past the station but…
