Downlocked to L3, but I have always been wondering what is the significance of drawing an LG in this kind of highway exit.
All three lanes can go straight [I don’t need to tell the driver there are three straight lanes in total, he can see it and he knows it], and the exit lane is as short as 10 metres (almost invisible) [Without LG, i.e. with only the traditional “Exit Left” icon, he will be keeping the left-most lane to get out of the highway anyway]
If the left lane is not an exit-only lane (i.e. can also continue on the highway), then perhaps the traditional single “Exit Left” icon is enough? Because:
- the exiting person knows his exit is on the left side, so he knows he has to be on left lane.
- the continue person can be on any lanes to continue, we don’t need to explicitly tell him there are three lanes and he can use all three.
This contributes to > 80% of the exits, if we can agree an LG is not needed, it can save us a lot of effort drawing LG on every single exits on every highway/main road.
