NCDOT changed the speed limit signs a few months back. The speed limit has dropped from 45mph to 35 mph on these segments.

I found a couple news articles about the change in speed limits along here. The Town of Carolina Beach lowered the speed limit against NCDOT’s recommendation in order to allow golf carts on the road.
Anyways, I see the resolution passed by the Town in Jan. 2018 called for the speed limit change to 35 mph, but the resolution calls for the 35 mph zone to extend an additional 600 feet northward (600 feet north of Access Rd).
I’ve unlocked the two segments of N Lake Park Blvd / US-421 to the north of Access Rd if you’d like to make that change as well, or reply back if you’d like some help with that.
Thank you. I made the changes. The TOCB wanted it to be 35 starting north across the bridge. NCDOT rejected that and they met in middle at dropping it to 35 at the access road/Foodlion parking lot.
