The Hickory Creek Bridge replacement project started in April and is scheduled to wrap up October 2015.

I-94 is usually 3 lanes in each direction through this area. Both directions are reduced to 2 lanes and the westbound traffic is routed over the median to the eastbound side where 4 lanes, 2 in each direction squeeze through the other bridge that will be replaced. Westbound traffic is routed back over the median just in time to exit on 23, Red Arrow Highway.

This is project #60 on the MDOT construction calendar.

I have not made this kind of edit before, if you have an example, I’d like to study it before I make these changes.

Edit: I have looked over some construction zones on I-96 in Detroit and am ready to do this.

Going back through unsolved Michigan posts, I believe that this was covered, no? I cannot find the original post, but there was a thread somewhere where a number of Champs weighed in on changing a shielded highway for construction with no closure.
