Is this a…:
Standard bug Steps to reproduce this issue:
The Links in the lower bar in WME are outdated.
“Get Help” leads to wazeopedia.waze.com which redirects me to the community hub
“Editing Forum” leads me to www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=8 which redirects me to the correct Discuss Editing Forum.
Unfortunately the redirection doesn’t work anymore in most languages.
Also this may cause some unnecessary extra server load if you always redirect? (I’m not familiar with these stuff)
Hi @WilfredsCat, thanks for reporting this. I tried several languages and was able to open these links without any problems. Can you please share the video with your errors?
Also, can you please specify in what emails you see the link that doesn’t work? UR emails templates are going to be updated, so I don’t think we should do something more there, but in case you see the same for any other email, please share.
I think it is only on the UR emails.
Try to open it in german. As DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) splitted their forum from one phpBB into three discuss forums, this may cause this problem.
Hi @WilfredsCat. Can you please share with me video or screenshot of the error you see. I noticed that this discuss page might be private and isn’t shown for not logged in users. So in case you logged in to Discuss - the page is opened without any issue.
As shown in WilfredsCat’s video, the link to the forum leads to the general site
when using the language setting English.
Language setting French (Français) also leads to the general site
This seems reasonable as English and French are official languages in more than one country.
Language setting Italian (Italiano) for example leads to the Italian community
Language setting Swedish (svenska) leads to the Swedish community
Language setting Finnish (Suomi) leads to the general page
as there are two official languages in Finland, Finnish and Swedish.
With the link to the forum, the users of a country should be able to get help from the community of this country (and if possible in one of the official languages of the country or a recognized minority language in this country).
For example, if the language setting is German (Deutsch), then a link to the forum should not necessarily go to the forum for Germany, but perhaps to a page that lists all the countries where German is an official language or recognized minority language (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy) and the user can then click on the corresponding country to get help from the local community.
the link works now and leads to the DACH forum. As I mentioned above this will not solve the problem for editors using the language setting German in for example Belgium (where German is an official language). They should have the opportunity to choose their country when opening the link.
Hi @WilfredsCat, thanks for pinging, cause it seems this thread got lost a little. So, as the initial issue was solved, I suggest you to create a suggestion here, cause it’s not a bug, but rather a suggestion to change existing functionality.
