I have noticed for years that Live Map is laggy, specially when viewing parts of the world with a lot of data (closures, user icons, reports, etc.), I was surprized that the issue wasn’t mentioned in the forums.
There are significant freezes when panning the map around that last a few seconds which make you think Live Map is crashing.
Why is Waze not optimizing the Live Map experience so that panning and zooming in parts with a lot of data is being as smooth and lag-free as possible?
It’s barely showing any live traffic at all for me. I’m using chrome and I have a high speed connection. Google Maps is showing live traffic in real time. Something on the Waze Live Map seems to be broken.
I noticed if I zoom in quite far, some traffic become visible, but if I scroll out, it disappears. This behaviour really diminishes the utility of the live map. If I open google maps and enable traffic, I can see the entire traffic picture of my route between work and home. With the waze live map, this is not possible. If this is supposed to be a feature, it’s not a very good one.
