I have my account set to World - Metric but the live map shows me the distance between two locations in imperial units (miles). I’ve tried resetting the region and units but it hasn’t worked.
Any suggestions?

I have a similar, but not identical, problem for which I am looking at the forums to solve.
I am on the U.S./Canada server.
My issue is that, under settings, my preference for Imperial instead of Metric is not truly “saved” when I save it.
Whenever I navigate away from my settings page (e.g., to look at LiveMap) and return to settings/preferences, my distance driven etc. are back to Metric units. I have also saved, signed out, and signed back in, to discover that I am back on the metric system instead of the imperial system.
Would you know why my preference for the imperial setting is not saved, when I save the new preference and navigate away from the page?

It’s a little confusing:
The setting you saw under your points, driven kilometers etc. only change to metric/imperial in the editor (an on this page). To see the distances on the live map in the metric system go to any page except the live map and editor, go to the end of the site and change the language from english to english UK or any other language you want (where they use the metric system).

Is it actually so hard to add metric units to livemap? And take saved data on chosen settings from dashboard? Why was metric system removed?
For me, I have the language set to English and the map editor still shows lengths in meters when I click on a road. The dashboard also shows statistics in meters. I’ve also tried changing the units from metric to imperial on the dashboard, then hitting save, but the units revert as soon as i reload the page or navigate away.
Setting the language to English UK and leaving World and Metric in Dashboard solved the problem for me i.e. distances in Live Maps are now in km.

Same here. I’m in the US and there’s no way to make it display miles instead of kilometers on the Live Map or Map Editor.
Even if language set to English in dashboard and reloading?

Yep, which is totally awkward, because UK uses miles 
English UK and got my km in live map, so annoying
Why is “English UK” measured in kilometers??? Road distances and speed in the UK are measured in Miles!!!
