There are a bunch of four lane at-grade avenues around the NW OKC area that are listed as major highways. Most of these are 30 to 40 MPH roads with lights, sidewalks, crosswalks, no median, etc.
Is this the right classification?

They are quite possibly correct. Have you checked the Oklahoma functional class maps?
Okay, it makes more sense now.
I see that Waze makes no distinction between Highway Principal Arterial and Principal Arterial, that’s why I was confused.
There should be a difference between highway principal arterial and principal arterial. In Texas, if it looks, acts, smells like a freeway, then it is a freeway.
Personally, I agree with you, but I also understand that Waze needs to be consistent. up. So you wind up with 35MPH local streets that are locked to level 3+ editors because they’re all major highways.
That’s why I gave up map editing.
