The new speed cameras have been installed and are now effective on Lower Jarvis St in Toronto, ON.
It is located slightly north of the Lower Jarvis and Lakeshore intersection. I believe the speed cameras will capture both lanes (northbound and southbound). :!:
This is not a repeat location (there is currently no Certificate of Accuracy listed on the Toronto website ). That doesn’t mean the camera isn’t there, just that it hasn’t been there in the past. Certificates often take 30 to 60 days for a new camera deployment to be posted to this site.
Toronto cameras only monitor one direction, taking photos of the rear plate of offending vehicles (no front plate tickets are issued). You will notice that the certificate of accuracy at the above web link will list which direction is/was being monitored in the location name.
There are two types of cameras in use in Toronto. Most of them are the temporary ones in a gray box about the size of a mailbox, installed at 3 0 degrees to the road. There are also a few permanent cameras, which are mounted on a 4m pole, and also at a 30 degree angle to the road. All other devices could be cameras for other purposes, but are not photo radar cameras.
Waze does a countdown to the camera location, so we need an accurate camera location (+/- 10 metres). Can you describe the type of camera, and the exact location? Or better than describing the location, use a site like Google Maps with overhead images (zoomed in pretty tight) to pinpoint the location of the camera housing, then right click (or long press on a touch device) to get lat/long coordinates of the exact camera location, and paste them in your reply here.
