Hi:
I think I understand what needs to be done to close the 06-Apr-2015 General Error report at the MIddlewood Rd - A6102 Catch Bar Ln.
Thank you for unlocking the segment just north-west of the report.

Hi Alex.
You need to provide a permalink like this with unlock requests, so that we can immediately go to the right place in the editor. The posting guidelines for requests are here and you can find out about Permalinks in the Wiki (link in my signature).
As it happens, the report was left by a Waze editor, EWK333. After another editor, MSDizzie responded to it, they contacted me for advice on this junction. If you select any of the segments, you will see that they were last edited by myself a couple of days ago, when I rebuilt the junction to improve the instructions. The changes are already “live” in the app and the changes have worked as expected, so I’ll close the report as solved. ![]()
Hi Iainhouse.
I tried to find the way to get the permalink, but I haven’t found the shortcut.
Can you please let me know how?
I remember going through this junction a while ago, and experiencing what was described.
I noticed that the segment I referred to is neither named and has no city, whereas all the other segments around it are properly labelled and located.
I wanted to edit the segment to rename and see whether this was going to work. Oh, well.
Alex
If you head over to the Wiki (link in my signature) and type “Permalink” in the search box, it will take you here.
As for the un-named segment - this is deliberate. Coming from the NW, we want drivers to get either a Keep Left or Keep Right instruction at that point. Doing this involves a little bit of “hacking” to make sure the instructions are given.
Basically, you have a Y-junction. The leg and both arms must be the same road type. Then, you either need both arms to have the same name, or both arms to be un-named to force both KL and KR.
Technically, the “left arm” of this junction should have the same name as the leg (A6102 - Middlewood Rd), but that will prevent the KL. Instead, by having it un-named, Waze will pick up the name of the next segment along and say “Keep left onto A6102 Catch Bar Lane” - which is exactly the instruction we want to give the driver. :ugeek:
Hi again.
Thanks for permalink link. I noticed that on my machine (Mac OS 10.10 + Chrome 41.0) it only works when looking at the Live Map, not in the WME. Strange.
I’ll drive down this junction today or tomorrow to see how that works and report back here.

Hi there.
Tested it tonight, and it works great.
Still slightly puzzled as to the reason for the hack, but I guess that’ll come with time.
Cheers.
