Hey Guys,
IFS team is deploying a new client tile builder dealing with bodies of water. This is just a heads up about what’s to come. Once completed (in about a month) we’d like to test it and get your feedback.
What will change?
-This new version is the first one in ROW that handles shorelines in the client.
-Shoreline borders and bodies of water will now show more accurately (in the past, the map only showed a body of water if the community had added it as a “Water Venue”).
How long will this process take?
About a month. Each tile build will improve a subset of areas.
What about the regular tile build?
The regular tile builder will continue daily, as usual.
At the end of this process (in a month):
-You can test it by removing water venues from an area and check that the water area still shows.
-If there are areas that don’t update (because no segments are present), we’ll run an automatic build to handle it.
Please keep us updated if you notice:
Bad shoreline borders
Sinking cities/countries/islands
Land instead of water
Anything that looks/feels weird
Waze are saying it shouldn’t affect our editing boundaries. The import is redefining more accurately (yes their words) what it should look like. Some water boundaries look like they’ve been drawn by a 2 year old…
I’ve passed the above onto the IFS team. If you see any more, let us know. Didn’t we have a problem near the Auckland Airport somewhere towards Hillsborough?
I am not sure about the airport or hillsborough … Just checking in the app now it all looks ok (though as you say its not drawn fantastic) but ill let you know if any more pop up
NZSteve, Waze wants permalinks (and if it’s the live map or editor map) please.
Waze IFS have fixed about 95% of issues, but still need any more identified issues.
