Having gone through Hudson NY recently, I wonder about the designations as major and minor highways.

US-9 is a major highway in the north/middle parts of town, but a minor highway elsewhere. Is this a clever way to enhance user experience that I could learn from?
It is not a (mostly) limited-access road and as such should not be typed greater than a Minor Highway.
Rt 9 is on my list of things to cleanup, down south more it does the same thing with switching between major and minor along with other errors like being 2 two-way roads running parallel.
I’ll have to see if I can find a guide to help, Jeberhard linked me to some thing from the DOT that shows you the official road classifications and how to get Waze to match them
I don’t think road classification can be made utterly simple. State classifications never map perfectly to the wiki rules, and I like to give them precedence, I also like to take into account consistency along major sections, relative rank of roads around it, and local user patterns/behavior.
