Map Adjustments During Roadworks

Scope of Adjustments

  • Change of traffic direction
  • Temporary roads
  • Bridging a road cut
  • Speed adjustments

General Principle
Such modifications may only be implemented through a map update, which must be repeated upon completion of the roadworks. The duration of such an update is at least two days, but may extend to several weeks.
Due to the unpredictable timing, the general rule is that no map adjustments are made during roadworks.

Consideration 2025
In recent years, the process for map updates has significantly improved and become more reliable. Delays exceeding two days have become exceptional.

Criteria for Considering a Map Adjustment

  • Duration of the roadworks
  • Importance of the affected roads
  • Extent of the impact on users

Permissible Circumstances
For regular roads, adjustments are discouraged if the works last less than 30 days. For main roads, such adjustments may be considered, particularly if they can be scheduled in advance.

Approved sources.

A single UR(Update Request) or MS(Map Suggestion) is usually not sufficient to make an adjustment. Always try to find a reliable source (SOFICO, GIPOD, government, etc.).

In the case of multiple, similar URs and in the absence of official confirmation, we can consider making the necessary adjustments.

Follow-up
All such adjustments must always be accompanied by a Map Comment. The comment must reference the source of the changes. The comment should be sufficient to understand how to restore the initial situation.

The temporary change should preferably allow to restore the initial situation (from the perspective of the drivers) with no map update
