Map Raid: Motorway Service Stations

For anyone who’s run out of car parks to do, here’s a new Map Raid for you: Motorway Service Stations
Here’s how it works:

  • This Google Sheet has a list of 100+ services by road - anyone can edit it
  • Find the location of a services, and paste the permalink into C (edit rights not required!)
  • Update the services as per these guidelines for services (if in your edit area)
  • When complete, mark it as done by writing your name in column D
    One of the admins will check each one after it’s done to make sure it’s ticketyboo.

Note: If you spot any missing or duplicate services, let me know.

Not that it matters we only have 1 services over here - Templepatrick Services
It should be complete.

Tim - looks like column A is protected so I can’t add/insert additional services.
Have reviewed and updated Emsworth Services on A27 (E & W) and added to the bottom but entries will need formatting.

Just to let you know I’ve removed my name and the permalink from Burton-In-Kendal (M6 Lancashire). The permalink went to Burtonwood M62, which I did and is listed correctly. Burton-in-Kendal is outside my editing area.

Just to add that the M80 and M9 services in Stirling are the same place.

Maybe your summer holidays have taken you past some of these? Remember, you can help by locating and pasting permalinks for the ones that need them, even if you don’t have edit permissions for them!

London Gateway and South Mimms permalinked - although I do not have permissions for these two.

I’ve permalinked a few more, but there aren’t any in my editable area.

Though the A34 isn’t on the list, I updated Tot Hill Services a couple of days ago to align with the MSA guidelines (permalink) - I stopped at it last weekend.

Annoyingly the Places bug means that I sometimes need to hit refresh a few times to see the area place, and then when that happens, one of the point places disappears! :roll:

Done M1 London Gateway Services (J3), but can’t edit the filter to update the sheet.

Have looked again at Tot Hill - unless it’s a Places bug, the Services area place has been removed. The wiki states “This advice applies to Motorway Services, and other large service areas on major roads that include several facilities and businesses.” - is this correct still?

Tot Hill doesn’t have a dedicated services building, so I’ve decided to leave it off the list. It’s just a petrol station with a couple other services nearby. I should perhaps update the definition in the Wiki.

OK - that’s a useful distinction to make.

On that basis, the following should be converted back for consistency:

A27: Emsworth Services (E & W)
A12: Colchester (Cuckoo Farm Services)
A38: Alfreton
A3: Petersfield
A50: Uttoxeter

I saw the A1 Grantham Services is missing its Travelodge hotel (left out in the cold on the southern boundary!), but I’m unable to add it…
A1(M) Scotch Corner has a 2-segment loop in it.
M74 Happendon/Cairn Lodge has some revcons, but I guess these don’t matter for parking roads?
