Meaning of "-HX" suffixes in Halifax?

Hi folks,
I’m doing work in the Halifax area and there are a few towns/regions that have a confusing property. I unfortunately don’t have time right now to create a permalink, but I’ll explain quickly. Part of the town is named normally and part of the town has " - HX" appended to the name. For example, there’s a “Cole Harbour” and a “Cole Harbour - HX”. I’m not from the area so I don’t know what the relevance is of this naming convention. Lawrencetown is another example IIRC.

Is there any explanation for these or should I remove the " - HX" and change them all to their ‘base’ names?

Thanks!

I checked with a longtime resident of Halifax off-Waze and he confirmed that he’s never heard of -HX, so I am getting rid of it as I can.

May have figured it out – and they’re right to go.

Lantz is in Waze as:
Lantz
Lantz - EH
Lantz - HX

– note the wikipedia page mentions that Lantz is unincorporated (so shouldn’t actually even be on the Waze map) but it’s “in the Municipality of East Hants and the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia, Canada”

EH - East Hants
HX - Halifax

Perhaps part of it is in EH, and another part isn’t but is in HX?
