Mercer Island, WA - Adding a private drive?

I’m trying to add a private drive serving a handful of houses (https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-122.22775&lat=47.56624&layers=30885&zoom=7&mode=0&mapProblemFilter=0&mapUpdateRequestFilter=0&venueFilter=0&segments=506788689) and while I seem to have been able to create the street I’m not able to assign house numbers to it (“Can’t save, please try again later”).

Are you the right forum to help me figure out what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks a lot,
-robin

Hi there, welcome to Waze. This is the correct forum. I’ve connected your Private Rd and added the 4 addresses. Since they are off the main road we use Residential Point Places to tell the system that you need to end on the Private Rd. Please take a look and see if I have it correct. You may need to turn the Places layer on in the drop down menu top right corner of the screen, also if it says “Show Residential” click that as well.

I think that looks correct. I suppose I need to wait a few days for a map update to take to validate that the bottom-right property (8233) now routes via the private drive instead of SE 84th Ave (to its NE)?

You are correct, in a few days you’ll need to delete the current search results and try again, doing a complete search and ignoring any auto complete results. But once the map updates take affect just having the private road in place may be enough to get you where you need to go.

My Android app now displays the private road but it’s still routing me the wrong way to the address in question. Are the residential Place markers not enough to convince Waze to take the private drive?

If you have the previous search result still in your history, the app will use that (to save data) rather than requesting a new result - so no, it’s not enough to convince the app. You must delete the old result to get the new location pin.

Okay, good progress: it now sends me to the entrance of the private drive, but it makes no suggestion that I should head down the (lengthy, multi-house) private drive. Is there a way to change the metadata for the private drive so that Waze will actually give me the turn?

We’ve been messing with it, while testing routing. Do the delete/search thing yet again, hopefully you get the correct pin (RPP vs HN) this time around.

Try it now. I’ve removed the House Number (HN) and just left the RPP (Residential Point Place).

It’s been working like a charm now - thanks all!
