We need Rank=3 help with segment/turn restrictions on this.

Here are the contents of an email I received from MDOT today. InvisibillDotNet also posted an alert about this closure in the UR I have at the location. (Permalink)

<snip>

Closure entered for both directions of I-96 and for Alden Nash. I also enabled the straight-throughs.

I don’t see the restrictions, even after road refresh. (Permalink)

Did you enter the restrictions in another way? (Perhaps some way that gets the candycane stripes on the segments???)

Yep! It’s a document available to champs, country managers, and state managers. There’s a new associated document where all users can enter closures, and then one of us will put them into the main document. I don’t have time to track down the link right now, though.

Thanks for your explanation!

I think davielde published the link a few messages up in this thread (on July 30).

Haven’t taken a look at it yet though.

I’m guessing that’s how the candy cane stripes get there too.

davielde alerted me about a similar Fulton St (Grand Rapids) closure display in the app.

I like the display! Very noticeable and informative icons at the endpoints too!

Thanks again for your explanation!

[Edit:] Moments ago (approx. 12:30 AM Sunday), sketch took care of this in WME.

The I-96 and Alden Nash (permalink to location) closures you made generated a UR.

Since the construction-related restrictions are effective only until 5am Monday, it may be too late to address this situation in time for Waze to process the changes and be of any use.

Looks like a Rank=4+ editor needs to enable the “straight-across” (exit ramp to entrance ramp) restrictions need to be temporarily lifted.

I know arrows can be disabled with time-based restrictions. Perhaps we need the opposite capability too.

Begin UR Quote

Map mis-routs at this point due to construction. The exit ramps are being used to bypass the bridge but Waze prohibits going strait across exit to entrance. Detour is exit the expressway proceed strait across and reenter the expressway. Please check West bound for proper routing Waze suggested rout would have added 20 minutes to the drive - Thank Level 1 new guy so need help

I swear I enabled the straight-throughs. I even posted as much a few posts ago. Looks like someone may have mistakenly disabled them. Probably too late now, but I re-enabled them.

GizmoGuy and davielde touched these segments recently, perhaps after your edits, due to another issue with some improper edits here (before rank restrictions were raised on these segments).

They might not have realized you had made the construction edits.

(I don’t think you’re crazy, regardless!)

It was me! I was correcting the work of another editor for other issues and hadn’t seen these posts. If there’s anything like immediate justice though, I got stuck in traffic there today for about 45 minutes while going eastbound around 2pm. The ramp to ramp continuation was working at that point.

Total closure: NB US-131, Mecosta County, August 9-14

The link to the Road Closures Form (apparently a Google Docs form) in the Overview section of the Road closures” Wiki is currently DEAD.

I also could not find the post davielde left in this thread on July 30 that, I assume, contained a link to the Road Closures Form.

Therefore, I’m posting HERE the essential contents of an email I got from MDOT today.

I do not have rights to place a time-based restriction on the segment and this might be a closure that might more appropriately get the candy cane stripes.

==========
FROM: Michigan Dept of Transportation <MDOT@govsubscriptions.michigan.gov>

I snipped the contact MDOT contact information to minimize the possibility of spam, nonsense phone calls, etc. for the contact.

If you want contact information that was included in the email, then send me a PM and I’ll CC the complete email message to you (minus the included graphics).

Here is the link for the closures doc.

Also this form should be used for almost all closures from now on. Not the restrictions option.

Although I think it’s a good idea to post here when you submit so we can still know if the construction has been submitted. Now that we do t use restrictions it’s hard to know if it’s been submitted. Even if you have access to the spreadsheet. Still a lot of info I sort through.

Thanks Ski. Also, if you haven’t caught the Closure thread yet, a good additional point from there is to drop the UR from the LiveMap so that others will know that a closure has been submitted. Omit “(Closed)” on the road name as well.

I saw that. thanks for reminding me. I am guilty of running around with that later off at times. Gotta remember to check.

If I was reading correctly you can also categorize them through URO now correct? I haven’t had a chance to get on and see I I understood that thread correctly.

Yes. In LiveMap, “Report a problem” at the closure you’ve submitted with “[ROADWORKS]” at the beginning of the text.

Then, if you are using URO+, here’s the Before and After when you check the “Use custom marker […]” box on the “Misc” tab:

Here’s a good example from actual usage with helpful details for other editors:

Thanks, SkiDooGuy and davielde!

I just finished submitting this Total closure: NB US-131, Mecosta County, August 9-14 via the form a few minutes ago (and I bookmarked the form).

I will proceed next to submit a [ROADWORKS] bubble/pin at the bridge location via Live Map.

I submitted the [ROADWORKS] notice UR at the bridge location. I forgot to include the segment when I permalinked in the UR but I did remember to permalink the segment in the Waze Road Closure Form.

I’ll get better with the [ROADWORKS] URs as I get practice.
