Minor Closures or Construction

The southbound half of the divided section on Greenfield Road in Southfield is being reconstructed.

Southbound side is now closed. Both directions use one lane of traffic on the Northbound side. Project started last Thursday and is scheduled to last through October 31st. : http://www.rcocweb.org/Lists/PressRelease/DispForm.aspx?ID=827

Segments affected are: https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-83.20340&lat=42.45231&layers=1956&zoom=3&segments=79096250,79096251,71902716,71902690,72412575,72412576,72412546,80178826,80178825,71798051,71864505,71864518,71864519,72105153,72105154,72105151,78661356,78661357,71132543,71902717,71902718,71902704,71902705,72412577,72412578,72412548,72412541,71798049,71864431,71864432,71864503,71864524,72105165,72105167,72105156,72105149,72105116,78661344,78661345,72130918,72130913,72130919,72130914,69267421,70553314,78790349,70553315,78790343,70759744,78790344,70598122,70759743,73939646,78790348,23627473

It looks like SkiDoo, L3 locked this on Thursday (per Major highway rule). Could someone either fix it up by making it a SB closed and NB a two way construction zone or just lower it to L2 and I’ll take care of it.

Lowered.

Thanks, its nearly done now. One last thing needs to be corrected. The southern end of this construction needs to have it turn restrictions loosened. Going southbound in the NB lanes, you need to be able to continue straight or turn from Greenfield onto Westbound Eight Mile.

Lowered the ramps. You should be good.

I might have misread the time restrictions, but it looked to me that it was only closed during business hours on weekdays and open the rest of the time.

I travel through the area frequently and feel that I can keep track of this project.

For other readers, here’s the discussion hitfactor is referring to.

@hitfactor: Thanks for responding. I also had to take a 2nd look at the time restrictions driving79 had made. Pretty creative!
If I recall correctly…
The first time restriction was just for 8/25 from midnite to 6am (0:00 - 06:00).
The second time restriction on the same segment was for 7/21 thru 8/24 (all day).

I hadn’t thought of that before. Works right down to the minute the construction should be complete!

Thanks again for responding!

I wasn’t referring to a conversation/thread, I read the restrictions in the editor.

Please feel free to put in time restrictions. I agree, that’s a clever solution.

I’m sorry I didn’t clarify carefully enough. I was referring (in my mind anyway) to the time restrictions in the editor too.

Since this is “one-big-thread” about several “minor closures or construction” and your reply didn’t reference either my post or the segment in question, I decided to reference my post so readers of this thread wouldn’t be confused about what you were talking about. I linked the forum message because it contains a permalink to the segment and has details about the closure.

driving79 had made the time restrictions for me in the WME because I didn’t have the rank necessary.

If anybody reading this is confused now, then I’ll take the heat (and constructive suggestions about how I should have handled it differently).

Anyway, Hit Factor has it covered and I’ll let it go. Thanks!

I set the ramp to level 2, thinking you might want to enter the time restrictions TrukKurt. If not, I can enter them and re-attach the segment. Please let me know which you prefer.

Please don’t disconnect segments as that is outdated guidance for closures unless it is a permanent disconnect. Add the restrictions, and if you ever feel that restrictions will not provide enough of a penalty, just post the request here. We can request that Waze close the road in a way similar to mega traffic events. If you look at the Fulton St bridge in the app right now, you’ll see the closure stripes and balloons. We may see some better closure capability in future versions of WME.

EDIT: I’m still confused after having a chance to look at WME because I’m not seeing any disconnect anywhere near Fulton St, and I couldn’t find the closed UR that was posted. Can someone post a permalink?

I’m VERY sorry AGAIN. It is NOT the Fulton St Bridge segment we’re discussing. I’ll make all necessary fixes.

HERE IS THE SEGMENT hitfactor, davielde, and I are discussing.

I will make necessary restrictions on the ramp SEGMENT but a R3+ editor needs to enable the L/R turns off the ramp to M-40 (after I reconnected the ramp to M-40 a few minutes ago).

[EDIT:] BTW, Lincoln Rd is M-40.

TrukKurt,

I set everything at level 2 for the I-196 E exit 49 ramps at M-40 for you. When you are finished let me know and I’ll bump it back up to 3 and take a look at your edits (not as oversight, but to study).

Thanks, hitfactor. You can go ahead and bump the rank restrictions back up on the segments now.

I made necessary segment time restrictions a little different than the way driving79 did. driving79 made the August 1 restriction 00:00-17:00 a Mon-Fri but I made it Friday only. Then the other restriction is all day, every day from now until midnite Jul 31.

I think the way I did it is less confusing because the all-day restriction is listed FIRST and the 00:00-17:00 Friday one is listed SECOND. The way driving79 had done it made the 00:00-17:00 one get listed first (which confused you and me in the first place).

I added notes about the restrictions there too.

I removed the (Construction Zone Closed) label because it will only be a little more than a week before the ramp is open again. All we need to do is watch it automatically open for traffic in our Waze apps at 5pm Friday, Aug 1. No further maintenace on our part is necessary (I expect).

Thanks again for your patience with me, hitfactor and davielde!

-Kurt

Thanks TrukKurt,

I hope it’s finished Aug, 1. When I drove by on Sunday it was just dirt!

I set the segments at level 3.

Added Restrictions for Monroe AVE Construction scheduled to end 5/9/2014
Monroe AVE & Briggs Blvd NE south of N Park St NE

I made a contruction/closure related edit before realizing ettiquite (first-time editor), posting here for exposure.

There are a couple of short-term total closures on M96 (listed on MDOT page: http://mdotnetpublic.state.mi.us/drive/laneclosures.aspx#), which severely affect travel between Kzoo/Battle Creek. I had access to one area and added time-based restrictions for the following segment: Eastbound and westbound M-96 from East Augusta Drive to River Road/Fort Custer Drive
There is another total closure listed for Eastbound and westbound M-96 (East Battle Creek Street) from New Street to McCollum Road, but I haven’t driven through here with the Waze app yet. Can/should someone else add this restriction?

Please and thank you.

Hello, falco! Welcome aboard!

I have driven around much of the B.C. area recently. I’ll take a look next time I’m at my computer (this afternoon/evening) to see if I can help out.

-Kurt

I just handled the additional closure on M-96 with falco on Chat. We’re all set.

welcome falco!
