I would like to see a feature where “Mowing /Other Mobile operations” for notifying people of Mobile Operations on a section of Road. Some one could initiate the road hazard and if it is still present, other users could update (re-center) the location or remove it once the obstruction is complete. Any thoughts one making this part of the user fields for Road Hazards?
Welcome @DaddysLandYacht ! Thanks for joining the community here. Great username! ![]()
Funny, today I saw a street sweeper truck on one direction of the freeway and a mowing and cleanup crew on the return trip, and wondered whether I should drop a report or not.
I know staff has been trying to reduce report options in the app a bit so finding the “right” report type is less distracting, fewer options to scroll through. But they do consider requests from the user community posted on the Waze Uservoice Suggestion Box once they get so many votes. Try searching for “mow”, “crew”, “workers” or similar to find suggestions already in the system, and up-vote ones that you like. They actually do consider these suggestions once they get enough votes behind them.
Hope that helps, and happy Wazing!
Great ideas in this thread. I could see a street sweeper being added as one of the “moving vehicle feeds” like trash trucks and snow plows. It would require the sweepers to have gps/cellular transmitters, but I expect most municipal vehicles do these days.
For the mower and trash picker crews, they usually have a utility truck and trailer (for the mower and porta potty). They could totally have one of those “HAAS” beacons that alerts drivers to construction or a vehicle on the shoulder. Again, they’d have to get it installed on the trucks or move-over arrow boards.
My original thought was, you could do it like you do any other object on the road/ or shoulder closure. And instead of when the message pops up for “Still there”, you could also have an edit feature that allows users to “Update Location” as it progresses down the road. Would also be great for line painting, and many other functions that typically cause traffic to be slow versus stopped.
Thanks,

I understand completely. If you create (or find) a suggestion for it on the Waze Suggestion Box, I would definitely give it three thumbs up!
However, I just want to temper you expectations because that would require creating a new framework for reports, both on the back end and in the app, so it may be difficult to achieve with the limited development time available at Waze HQ.
