It looks like the Waze-bot has been busy and started marking Map Problems for Car Parks mapped as Points and getting a little upset about it.
A couple have been car parks for business so I have deleted and ticked customer parking for the business Place. It has now also started picking up for one I added for a hospital car park which I thought was elliable as it was covered under the ‘special places’ within the UK Wiki.
If I mark it as irrelevant do I run the risk of it being passed onto IGN, should it be closed as solved knowing the Waze-bot can only follow it’s programming :?:
The hospital already has the box ticked for parking. Had URs complaining that there are multiple car parks depending on which department you are visiting. In this case there are 2 car parks for public use.
We have 2 x “Warwick Hospital” waze places (plus a google one) in the search results.
Suggest we delete one (and extend the other over the other side of the road where the second waze place currently is) and link the remaining one to the google place too. So just one comes up in the waze search results then.
I’ve also seen point places used to mark the entrance to underground car parks
This seems to work well as it’s usually impossible to map the true extent of the car park, the GPS isn’t going to work anyway, and there’s no visible landmark for it to help with navigation.
here’s a problem I have with this, and one I would view as a potential for an exemption: privately operated paid parking lots. I wouldn’t want these to be visible clutter on the map, but why wouldn’t these places be welcome on the map as points? if I’m going to an event and I know that abc parking is the cheapest around, wouldn’t I want to be able to navigate there?
more to the point, if these don’t qualify as parking lots without being an area, what relevant category should be used to keep them on the map as points.
[edit] I’m in the US, but we’re getting the same MPs popping up here. [/edit]
There are changes for Parking Lots that are planned / upcoming in the future. Current guidance for the states I am involved with are to leave the MP’s alone until the functionality is built in and we have the proper guidance.
So once again we stumble upon the wonders of Waze, where features are added or removed and people can’t or won’t explain why.
By no means a personal dig, I’m having an off day and it bemuses me how I can get multiple notifications for webinars aimed at L1 editors but they can’t push a note with a changelog attached. How anyone gets to L6 and still has a full head of hair I’ll never know.
Indeed I can confirm that you can no longer create parking lots as point places. In the future, all parking lots should exist as their own separate entity and not be linked to any other place if I recall correctly.
I would not recommend that the workaround be to create a micro-Area-Place (mAP) as they will not show up in the editor, however, I guess we are currently just stuck until the WME sorts this out.
Oh look, Car Parks are their own top level category, can only be drawn as an area. Also new car park side panel allowing more information to be input. Was it really such a big secret no one could say Waze is changing the car park category.
Am I to guess the ‘operator’ field will be similar to the petrol station ‘brand’ field.
Here is a car park created yesterday as a point :!: By a staff member (Wazebot) called WazeParking1. It is created on top of a hotel that already has it’s ‘customer parking’ ticked so I would like to delete it ASAP.
I get the feeling these are going to spring up at every place that we have marked as having customer parking
