Yes got an annoying thing. Sorted out some of the Car Parks in Romford and marked the map issues as solved then Waze reopened them again for me to close them as solved again.
Still got a few more to do.

Waze say they have fixed the issue whereby MPs were being reopened after they were closed.
Are any of the imported car parks being created as/edited into area placed by Waze themselves? I was about to add what I thought was the missing Paddington Station car park, when I noticed this area place which at first glance just looked like someone had marked an office building…
Both created by, and last edited by, WazeParking1, with the area place in almost entirely the wrong place, and with no PLRs…
Is this worth reporting as a possible problem with the original import/follow-up scan, or is it more likely to just be a bit of shoddy workmanship from another editor in the 7 days between it first being created by the import process and the subsequent follow-up edit?
Regardless of whether or not this ought to be reported, any ideas why the wazebot would be making further edits to an existing car park place anyway? It concerns me ever so slightly that, having seen what a fantastic job Waze did with sanitising the original car park data before generating the original point place import, they may have set themselves a similarly high standard to follow when letting the wazebot loose to modify existing car park data…
Not that we’ve been told, or that I’ve heard reported anywhere else. Having said that, there is a car park on the South Bank near the Heywood Gallery that also appears to have been created by WazeParking1.
One possible guest is that it was created during the blink and you’ll miss it “testing” period. It was spotted and edited by someone. Then the “proper” import tried to re-import it, but just updated some details because the original import place still existed.
You could report it. It might confuse Waze - but god knows they deserve a bit of pain back after what they’ve dished out to us.
I was about to hack URO to include a WazeParking1 filter for places, when I found this…
Edited to add:
Also these…
and
All three of these car parks also have adjacent car parks listed as both having been created and edited by WP1, and it actually seems to be pretty easy to find other area place car parks around London where WP1 is also listed as the creating+last editing editor.
So given that we now know the wazebot did create area places all by itself, and given how many other car parks list the bot as both creator and last editor, it seems reasonable to assume that at least some of this latter category, if not many/most/all, have never been edited by another editor.
This then begs the question as to just how many area places were created by the wazebot, and how long will it take us to find and correct them all without the assistance of a bright red MP marker sat on top of their locations - strange how so many of the area car parks we’d already correctly added to the map still got tagged with a point place and MP, yet none of these bot-generated areas appear to have suffered the same fate despite them being far more in need of our attention
Sorry Iain, when you mentioned the car park on the South Bank I thought you just meant it was one you were already aware of that listed WazeParking1 as both creator and last editor. Having now looked at that area, I see that it too is an example of a “virgin” area car park which hasn’t been edited since it was originally created by our good and dear friend WazeParking1, and I also see there are two more examples right next to it…
What the hell is this :!: Created on Sept 6th as an area by waze-maint-bot :?
And if you look underneath it, there’s another area listed as a ‘construction site.’
Well, the flood of SLURs has abated, and now we’ve got the mothership (WazeParking1) making phantom parking lots, or we’ve got auto-generated problem reports for parking lot place points that don’t actually exist.
Is it just me, or does it seem like there maybe isn’t enough beta testing going on somewhere? Seems like we are getting more than a reasonable level of fluff and trouble leaking through that should have been tightened up before seeing the light of day lately.
Or maybe it’s just me because I am grumpy.
Hi,
Your grumpy??!!
They really know how to implement changes, not. They also know how to keep their editing community happy/behind them - not!!
There could well be a perfectly valid reason for wanting Car Parking correctly mapped, but not this way.
And the community is supposed to fix this?
Ohh yes, and what’s that useless “Provider” drop down box for when there have been no providers added yet! Not even local authority!!
