Multiple Traffic Updates for NIH Bethesda Main Campus January-March 2023

Hello all,

I have been asked by the director of facilities at NIH to report the upcoming changes in Bethesda Main Campus traffic. Below are changes to NIH Bethesda Campus traffic pattern due to construction. Below are 2 instances of the pattern changing in the coming months. Picture graphics attached (Graphic 1 & 2 not showing satellite views) corresponds with information below. Satellite views offer more detailed explanations of both timeframe changes:

  • Effective January 9, 2023:

  • Closure of Center Drive at Old Georgetown Gate (Depicted in Orange on Graphic 1)Center Drive Bethesda Campus Work.png

  • Convent Drive remains one-way southbound between Center toward South Drive; however, two-way traffic is allowed up until the southern entrance to MLP-9.

  • Effective March 6, 2023:

  • Portions of Center Drive are closed (Additional Orange in Graphic 2 depicts further closure)

  • You cannot enter the ACRF via the P1 entrance (Construction Symbol shown in Graphic 2)Campus Access Jan 9-Mar 5.JPG

  • You can still enter MLP-9 from the south.

If more explanation is needed, please let me know.

FYI, I adjusted your message to allow the attachments to be visible. Should help folks respond more easily.

Thank you for the assistance; much appreciated.

What is the difference between the SOLID and the DASHED green lines on the map?NIH thru Summer 2028 Legend.PNG

I will get confirmation on that before fully responding & reply back soon.

No significant difference in Solid & Dashed Green Lines. The solid lines represent primary traffic flow. The dashed lines represent secondary traffic flow. Both are open roadways.
