N4 westbound outside Witbank

Any particular reason why there is a 14m ramp segment in the middle of the N4 westbound carriageway just outside Witbank?

I would understand it being a 14m segment at the beginning of the N12 westbound, so that the instruction would be “Exit left on to N12 West”, but not sure what instruction are currently being given.

If I remember correctly this was one of the less fiddly methods to force a keep left / keep right instruction on Freeways. Current Wiki’s Junction Style Guide is under revision, and does not show the previous methods used.

It seems to correctly do that based on Livemap routing :
Keep Right
Keep Left

That’s exactly what I was aiming for. If I recall there were a bunch of URs saying the TTS was wrong in that it wouldn’t say “keep right” when going to PTA. The same applies from THIS forum thread for THIS section of road.

I’ve got to admit that albeit less elegant in execution, it certainly works.
