Update #2 (August 22, 2023) We have released the version 2.180 to production. Please leave all the feedback under this post.
Update #1 (August 03, 2023): we’ve rolled back the WME prod version to version 2.179 due to the existing bug that doesn’t allow segments to be split with the existing segment. We didn’t want to leave this issue in the production version for the weekend or offer you an unreliable fix.
Below you can find a summary of the release.
Known issues:
Header Menu: header items menu slightly covers the header.
Header Menu: the sub-menu items in the right area of the Roads menu are currently missing.
Map suggestions: After approving a suggestion and saving the changes, the icon near the segments remains visible. However, after refreshing the map, the icon disappears. New features/enhancements:
Map suggestions: size adjustments made for the “thumb up” icon.
We have hidden venue images changes from the history view to address privacy and legal concerns. Some images might have been deleted due to such concerns, and it’s important not to show them.
We updated the design of the save panel. Instead of showing the action description, we now display the attribute name (changed elements), previous value, and new value.
Bug fixes:
We’ve released 6 bug fixes.
Breaking changes related to the release of v2.177 - fixed.
Segments: can’t split segments with the existing segment - fixed.
House numbers mode refuses to load for a specific street - fixed.
Road menu: fixed UI of icons - fixed.
Issue Tracker: bad layout in case the user expands UR filters - fixed.
Compact mode: Tooltip is not fully visible in the compact mode - fixed.
I can no longer connect one segment to the middle of another. It only works if I connect the new segment to an already existing node or geometry point.
Seems like the new version broke some scripts - WME Magic doesn’t load always and the zoom functions don’t work (zoom level from Fix UI glitches and the keyboard shortcuts). The WME Toolbox browse extension doesn’t load.
Edit: The URC-E script loads, but also can’t process markers, interact with the map nor filter URs.
Seems like the new version doesn’t work well with a number of scripts. As one of the effects is a totally blank left panel, I can’t even begin to see which ones.
Well, I guess I’ll spend some time trying to diagnose what wrecked my editor. Much more fun than improving the map, I’m sure.
Without script, I also can’t always use existing segments to cut a segment. It works 90-95% of the time I’d say.
Edit: it seems to work way less often if the segment is moved once through the target segment and then back.
Okay, here’s a tip for those of you whose left panel was reduced to a grey mass of nothingness by this editor version: If you’re running the script, turn off URO+.
The alternative is to find out for yourself, in which case the culprit is bound to be script number 23 of 24, as was the case for me.
Who at Waze decided we needed a new release of the editor Every. Single. Week? The script authors cannot keep up, and you are slow to move to add the features of the scripts we need to effectively edit the map to the native UI. Since EVERYTHING is broken this morning, I won’t be editing today. Several scripts were broken in the release a week ago, and I’ve made do. Eventually, you’re going to be creating a never ending loop of endless work for scripters that they’re all just going to stop releasing updates all together. What does that mean? You’re going to lose editors because it’s just too cumbersome to keep up.
For some reason you feel the need to release these new versions, yet many bugs/features remain broken or unaddressed. I just don’t get it. I’m not going to be editing again until the scripts I need are fixed, and I don’t blame the scripters one bit for being extremely unmotivated to do so. This ridiculousness of weekly editor releases needs to STOP.
And the script which has been totally bollocksed by this particular WME update is … {drum roll} … WME Validator.
I was getting a totally blank left-hand panel after updating to v2.180 - turning all scripts off and re-enabling them one by one reveals that it’s WME Validator which is the issue.
EDIT : Oops, looks like WME UR-MP Tracking, WME Toolbox and WME Speed Helper have also been rendered non-functional by v2.180. Well done Waze, really played a blinder with this one.
For everyone complaining about scripts in this thread…the script authors have been aware of the changes. Staff has made a lot of strides in an effort to support the script writes when they can, and provide information on the changes when they can’t. Staff has even rolled back some changes to support specific scripts. This is a huge improvement over a few years ago.
However, feedback in release threads should be limited to scriptless editing. Any issues with scripts should be mentioned in the appropriate script thread or on the script discord server.
I still haven’t received the Map Suggestions feature (which is linked to Google) until now, and I don’t know the reason. By the way, I follow the GCC community, and i’m L5.
