New iPhone beta version - will only work for iPhone beta users.
New navigation bar, including turn and next turn instructions (visual only).
New street edit and house numbers bar - when you drive on an a street with no name, a small bar will pop up allowing you to quickly update its name from the client! You can also mark a road and choose to edit its properties or just click on a new on-screen button.
NOTE - actual updating of attributes only works outside the U.S. . You can still play with the UI and we’d appreciate any feedback but any updates will be ignored in the U.S. . We plan to enable actual updates in a day or two.
Facebook connect - same functionality as twitter (send updates on different events) along with a new invite your friends option.
Quick impression:
Seems to be a lot faster?
‘Promopt me to edit road info’
Glad you removed the bulldozer from the mainscreen.
I like the always visible speedometer.
Chomped you
You changed something about the road labels - a big improvement, but still needs some tweaking - city names and major highway/freeway names still have the same font, I would like to see a seperation here (maybe a small border around city names?).
I don’t like the new scoreboard, and there’s a small bug in it:
When I hit the ‘All’/‘Weekly’ link, it displays another user (for the other 3 combinations it’s okay).
How do you install this? I opened the file with itunes and tried to sync to my iphone, but it says "The application “waze” was not installed on the iPhone “Nick’s iPhone” because the signer is not valid.
We post our beta versions here. Who can install them depends on the phone:
For iPhone, only users who have registered to our beta iphone list (and got the confirmation that they are part of the group) can install this version…
For Android, any user can install our beta version as long as they allow “unknown sources” in their phone’s settings.
That doesn’t seem to work, whatever I do, my review does not show up in the Chomp app or the overview page: http://chomp.com/a/cE9
Also, how is the streetname dialog supposed to work? I can see it appearing while driving around, but it disappears immediately. Is this a bug? Should it only appear when on a street when doing 0mph and the street has no name?
I’m with Peter G, WinMo is due before android, since WinMo wasn’t brought up to date when Android was with the last Iphone update. WinMo is still version 1.5. Unfortunately, I think WinMo is going to be the redheaded step child of the Waze family.
Okay, I think I figured it out, here are my comments:
Auto prompt is kind of useless, it only flashes for about a quarter of a second and then it disappears. It becomes annoying.
One feature I was especially surprised to see, was the ability to edit housenumbers (at least, I think that’s where the ‘#’ on both sides are for). However, I am not able to input anything in these boxes (I can’t get the app to focus/place a cursor in these boxes).
Also, the streetname button looks like it is grayed out the entire time.
Foursquare seems to be working okay with this version on places it reported a parser error before.
Also, I encountered 3 crashes with the latest version: 1 phone reboot and 2 unexpected shutdowns. Of course, logs are sent, happy debugging  .
As far as I know they are fully subscribed already. Apple has a ridiculous limit on the number of people that can participate in the developer testing programs. I included my name when they originally asked for participants but didn’t make the list.
I think I’m missing something: SuperPermalink
I hadn’t turned on the manual recording on the client for 4-5 months because I’ve always hated fake red roads (I prefer to work from scratch on the editor), and now I’m getting these strange new red segments with my name as author and today as the gps timestamp (so it’s been the new iPhone beta, either the .2 or .4… I can’t say)
Is there some kind of new auto-recording mode that I’m not aware of?
