Your input is appreciated

Wow… What can I say, the biggest update since I started using Waze?

  • Performance increment, very very noticable!
  • Very nice graphics, much better! No more blended together roads! Labeling is much better.
  • Ability to turn off the road goodies, thank you!
  • Ability to force a refresh of the map tiles - much appreciated! (Does not seem to work for me though - what area does it refresh, maybe mine is too big?).
  • Mood icon update :).
  • iPad support - too bad I don’t have mine yet…

Very nice, I can only hope my iPhone reboot problems are gone now, I guess I’ll find out soon enough  .

This version does not start on my phone. It shows the waze startup screen for 10 or 20 seconds, then closes.

Running it again has the same result.

When attempting to access the options settings, sometimes it won’t open, sometimes it will. Restarting 99.99% of the time fixes it.

What is data compression, is it enabled?
Road Goodies off, thank you.
Refresh map tiles seems to require a restart of the app

I can confirm this one.

After switching, it won’t be effective immediately though, it requires a restart of the app.

Oddly, when I start the new beta today, it no longer dies on startup. Maybe something was fixed on the server side?

So far, I am unable to get a saved location to generate a route this morning.

Update: http://tiny.cc/9mz4k

  • Fixed tiles refresh
  • Less memory allocation at launch (affects 3G devices which have less memory), should prevent app halt/crash during startup

New bug (not there/reproducable with 1.8.0.2):

When the auto-suggested route dialog pops up, and you dismiss it, it starts navigating towards the auto-suggested destination with a slight delay anyway (even when you selected another destination).

The problem I reported was on a 3Gs, sorry I did not include that.

I suspect it was a server side problem. The startup screen came up, but without the message in the upper part of the screen about ‘waze wishes you…’. The next morning, this screen came up, and then the ‘downloading language pack’ message. I suspect it crashed not being able to connect or retrieve the language pack?

Routing starting working shortly after I posted the problem this morning, and is mostly working this evening.

I’ll try the updated beta.

Tiles refresh correctly now when Refresh Area Map Tiles

Options button still doesn’t always open correctly. Shutting down and re-opening is the only way to access it sometimes.

Feature request:
Waze is not multitasking aware in iPhone OS4 (it does not continue my route while being backgrounded).

Downloaded 1.8.99.6 and Waze opens to the splash screen, waits about 10 seconds the shuts down. Had to reload app store version to get it working again.

That’s what I saw also. It started working the next day for me.

Only downloaded and started at home.

  • Memory usage : version 1.8 13-15 MB free
    trial 1.8.9 23-25MB free

  • great the possibility to refres map tail

  • traffic info downloag : good idea I will try on the field tomorrow

  • display network monitor : what is that for?

  • option button needed few restarts of the program to work correctly

Tomorrow better info

It’s that ugly, out-of-place counter on the upper right side of the screen (‘Accessing network…’, ‘1234Kb’, etc.)

Quick update with correction version: http://tiny.cc/achdx
Includes bug fixes:

  • Crash reported if closed immediately after launch
  • Accidents list did not show accidents
  • Settings menu not showing should be solved
  • iPad fixes

Another Quick update with correction version: http://tiny.cc/y1wlu
Includes bug fixes:

  • Fixed auto night mode
  • Fixed forced navigation although user selected close
  • The above should also fix the route error message due to > 200 miles distance

 Very good. I was just logging in to ask if the version stamp was wrong. Mine downloaded the language pack just now, but when I checked the version stamp it seemed to still be 1.8.99.7.

The preferences are still buggy, they just open every once in a while :?
