Hi All,
New to this. Was wondering if anyone had any advice to putting a new road network for an undocumented area? Feel free to PM.
Much appreciated!

We have a few people with editing access in Alaska that can help you out. We do most of our communicating via Discord (see my signature for NWR), but can handle via the forums and chat.
Can you provide more information about what you want to map? Generally, if it is drivable we map it. Dirt roads to remote areas or seasonal roads such as ice & snow roads.
Hi Flith,
It would be additional roads/facilities up in the North Slope (Prudhoe Bay, Kupurak, etc). We currently have a lot of these in our ArcGIS system, but wondering if there was some way to import this data into Waze to help the area.
Thanks!
We have some scripts we can use to overlay some ArcGIS data in the map editor. Depending on compatibility, we may have some other tools. We can discuss more on Discord if it’s easier.
Sounds good. If your GIS allows it we could add it to our editing overlays. You can PM us if you want to discuss further.
I did contract work in Prudhoe Bay for many years (generally in the early fall) and am pretty familiar with it. I did most of the work to convert the original (and very crude) basemap to what Waze has today, and came up with the Area Place naming system (e.g. “PBU DS12” for Prudhoe Bay Unit Drill Site 12, etc.).
My understanding was that it was a declining field and there weren’t much in the way of new road networks going in. I’m glad to hear there’s life in the old field yet.
Please let me know if I can be of any help, I’d be glad to be in the loop.
[EDIT: I’d also be thrilled to hear about use cases for the existing Waze setup. I put an awful lot of work into it hoping that it’d do somebody some good. It’d be great to hear if it has.]
