New Speed Enforcement Camera

I’m not sure if this is the info one needs, but I’ve added a comment to the map about a new speed enforcement camera. On the map, it says ID: 184091062.1840779552.1180808 - hopefully that is enough information to officially add it.

Unfortunately we’ll need more. Ideally we need a permalink for the street segment where the camera is located. You can get the permalink by clicking on the chain icon on the right-hand side of the map editor. The Share Location modal will open up and copy the URL of where the camera should be.

We also need the direction that the camera is facing.

Reporting the location of a new speed camera is anything but quick and simple using this tool. Not impressed.

You can also just tell us the intersection and direction its facing. We’re a volunteer community so we don’t have a lot of input to how the system works.

Waze has removed the report option for speed cameras, because drivers weren’t using it properly. For permanent speed cameras, the best way (from the app) is to let the community editors know through Report -> Map Error -> pick any category you like. Then, when we reach out, you can let us know the direction. At least your report will pop up at the relevant location.

While every user can also become a map editor, simply by starting editing on the map, certain options are reserved for higher-level editors. I know it may be frustrating in the beginning, but we want to make sure new editors get proper training before moving up. Everyone here can testify on how it can be frustrating to be a Level-1 editors with virtually no permissions, but we can help you by lowering segments so you get the points to move up.

We’re all doing our part to make the drive a better experience with Waze.
