With the tunnel opening up in a few days I’m reviewing the streets around the north end of the tunnel, comparing to them to the video WSDOT put out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By7PJb3xCmg and looking at the state’s FC map http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/data/tools/geoportal/
If there are no objections I think there should be a change to FC for the entrances to the tunnel at the north end. Proposed changes are to make the following all Major Highway:
6th Ave from Mercer to Denny https://www.waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&lon=-122.34386&lat=47.62094&zoom=5&segments=514375599,514375600,514375587,514375606,514375607,507052916,507052917,505995986,508638528
Harrison St from Taylor to Dexter https://www.waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&lon=-122.34426&lat=47.62167&zoom=6&segments=87179848,87179847,514114154,506048353,506048352,504855830
Any comments on this are welcome.
I agree that it seems the WSDOT functional classification hasn’t caught up to the new pattern. I think that for Waze routing to work best, those road types should be increased to match the routes they connect.
I don’t see any issues with this proposal.
It’s been my experience that we upgrade road types in WME to match the road types of what they’re connecting when there’s a discrepancy on the State or Federal FC maps.
Essentially you’d be fixing known broken routing - so I say go for it!
I’ve made the change to MH due to the fact that this part of the map opens in less than 2 days and we need routing to work here. However if anyone has any concerns or comments we can change things later and any comment or counterpoint is appreciated.
There’s a collection of traffic cameras for the Viaduct removal. Some have panoramic views. May be useful with road alignment until street view and satellite view updates.
