Hello! Recently I have found that bike roads do not exist here. They are a different type and not a “Walking trail”, “Pedestrian road” or “Stairs”. Google activated the bike layer for several countries, but in Waze, the “Bike Road” type is missing. In some places (Romania) we added these bike roads as “Pedestrian Roads” with the “Bike Road(Path)” name. I think that is not ok and needs to be fixed.
I have to tell you this is almost certainly never going to be fixed.
Getting Waze to add features that are even relevant for cars is impossible - width/height/weight restrictions. Types that were introduced a few years ago but never supported in the app are being removed.
Waze is primarily for commuting cars. There are some features for taxis and motorbikes, but it’s never going to support bicycles. You can head over to uservoice and make a suggestion there, but I have to frankly tell you it will be a wast of time. Sorry.
There are a lot of interesting ideas here, but I frequently use the Waze heat map in conjunction with a Google search or even a search of Waze activities.
Your gripe was that you couldn’t search your street, but that was the easy part. Find a route further out, and then utilize heat maps to bridge the gap between the region you’re familiar with from your house and a section of the route you’ve discovered.
