There are a growing number of Kiwis starting to use WAZE, which is exciting to see. This forum thread is a place for kiwis to talk about issues facing us as we pave the way in a whole new country for Waze.
BTW: WAZE team, you need to update the site a bit more - when someone from NZ visits, you show a South Africa map, not NZ. Also the live map page doesn’t seem to show much outside of the USA & the labels are frequently wrong (eg you have Tasmania in Australia labeled as New Zealand)

I’m driving around the Highland Park, Botany, Ellerslie, Penrose areas … I don’t do much driving outside of coming to & from work … but well… hey, it all helps

I’m down in Christchurch, trying to map as much as I can… unfortunately, I currently seem to be the only active mapper down here - and I don’t often travel very far beyond what I’ve already mapped (I’ve been ducking down all manner of side streets that I’ve never been down before in order to try to map as much as possible, though). Somebody came along before me and plotted a couple of small, random sections of road which (as far as I can tell) don’t actually line up with any real roads - but I don’t currently have permission to delete them (I’ve flagged the one set which I’m 99% sure isn’t correct for deletion, but it’s pending confirmation from the area manager - Fodder, if you’re able to confirm that deletion, it’d be much appreciated).
If you guys know anyone here in Christchurch, it’d be great if you can encourage them to get Wazing - it’d take me forever and a day to map the entire city by myself!

Just booked our flights for our September trip to NZ. Planning to use WAZE to drive the length of North Island to help you guys out with mapping.
…been using waze from Nokia N97 here in Hamilton, New Zealand… happily mapping out the roads and munching as I go… does anyone know how to edit the roads I’ve been over twice or even three times?

Hi there, I just started in Hamilton New Zealand, and basically still figuring things out. I notice when I try to fix some roads I get an “no such city” error. Any tips or suggestions would be welcome
Yea, I don’t even see the tron on the map. You might need to email Waze (alpha@waze.com) and get them to add it as a city. While you’re at it you could apply to be an area manager, there’s not many roads mapped south of the Bombays
Have just become an area manager of the North Island, so I’m slowly making my way through the major cities and towns. I spent some time last night adding some major roads and highways to Hamilton. Soon I should have it connected up to the rest of the state highways that are in the system so you should be able to navigate to/through Hamilton.
As I don’t get down that way often I need some locals to drive these roads once they’re updated to the client and report any problems.
Btw, I thought this was quite funny from gmor

I just downloaded the beta version for Blackberry and am trying to actively map. No idea what I am doing really at the moment.
I am in CHCH and I do drive a round a fair bit. Will do my best to get mapping in suburbs, etc. Trying to read up how I should be doing all of this stuff!
Been inactive for a while, but I am back again working on the Hamilton area. If it ever stops raining, I plan to add street numbers and build roads on foot as an excuse to get some exercise.
Hi All,
I am driving and editing in CHCH, mostly in the NE (where I live) and in the NW (where I work).
I have been given area manager permissions, have attended all the pending items and all update request for the CHCH area.
I am working on all the map problems atm, have cleared 99% of the map problems from the last 7 days, and all high priority problems I can find.
I have created a request for someone to drive through the area around Aidanfield Drive, https://world.waze.com/cartouche/?zoom=4&lat=-43.56338&lon=172.56541&layers=BTFTFFFFFFFFFFTFFFFTTTT and record some of the new street names in the area.
I have also emailed alpha@waze asking for a NZ forum.
Who else is active in CHCH? Are you driving, editing, or both?

Been using WAZE in the UK for the past six months and now moved to Auckland. Don’t have a car at the moment so won’t be able to contribute too much.
New Waze user here (started about a week ago), but already travelled over 1000km using it, i’m out and about all the time, this weekend was northland, Paihia, Kerikeri and back to Auckland. Mostly around East, but head out West every weekend as well. So yeah, hope to help out and see you all out and about
Hi all, I’ve just started using Waze, only a couple of days so far. I don’t drive around much other than home to school/preschool etc, but I’ve been adding roads as I go It’s kinda fun!
