'No Trucks' in Smuggler Notch, Stowe?

Is there some way to suggest ‘no trucks’ for routing through Smugglers notch? This continues to be a recurring problem in summer months when the notch is open…

Hi! This has been a perpetual issue we’ve been trying to address for years. Unfortunately there is really nothing we can do at this time. Waze has a partnership with Vermont AOT where they drop alerts (like how you get a construction, hazard on road, etc.), but at the moment this is the best we can do.

Us volunteers and the AOT have pushed the Waze staff for a more permanent solution, so hopefully something comes down the pipeline. Waze doesn’t support trucks or commercial vehicles, so even having an alert may not help (and they may be using other apps anyway).

OK, GTK thx for checking. As a new property owner in Stowe it seems to be a continuous problem. There’s a huge lit sign at the base of the notch but apparently even that isn’t enough.

Exactly - it’s like those perpetually hit low bridges (same with covered bridges in VT). If they’re not following the signs, who knows if the app will help. Always worth a try though!

Seems like this concern is heating up (again):

“Lawmakers are working with Google to correct that problem.”

“then the GPS navigation provider of the 21 GPS navigation system shall be subject to a civil penalty of $2,000.00”

@w1qa any further insights on how Google could address the issue?
