Note to Level 5s

Hey guys,

I’ve come across quite a few Level 5 locked A roads in Kent. Normally I wouldn’t be bothered, but these are roads that have been updated since being added to the A Road tracking page.

They’re on there for a reason. They are complete, as are all roads and junctions that connect to them.

Please, if there are any issues with any of the roads on that tracking page http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/A_road_progress_tracking in Kent get in contact with me first. If I’ve made a mistake I’ll hold my hands up, but they are locked as complete for a reason.

They don’t need Level 5 locks on them, they are 3 digit A roads. I know of only a small handful of AMs that would be able to touch these anyway at L4, and they are pretty trustworthy.

Thank you.

Note: This isn’t a power struggle post, just saying…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Coming soon to an editor near you: instead of an on/off lock toggle, we’ll be able to set what level to lock them at. So, where appropriate, level 4/5 editors will be able to keep locks at 3. It also means that when a level 4/5 editor changes some property of a lock road, it won’t suddenly inherit their level.

:ugeek:

Yeah

Only been waiting for that forever. Good to hear some progress on that niggle!

Will that apply to others, i.e. I can lock at L4 and below?

Yup, or level 3 if you desire. Future unlock requests may well be down to certain level, instead of total unlocking

That makes a lot of sense from a security perspective. Happy to see you lot badgering Waze

They’re just passing on the badgering you give to them/us - sometimes it flows uphill instead.

Hi,

Whails they are doing these wonderful things, maybe designated M’s should be able to edit everything in their areas not withstanding the fact that it may have been locked by a higher level editor?
Would save a lot of those unlock requests…

And sorry, but if you can’t trust an AM to edit their area’s why make them AM’s?

Des. . .

Why have CMs and Level 5 at all?
I know it was to fill holes in the map but that isn’t necessarily the case anymore.

That might be true in Kent, but you should see how things are out in the sticks.

Don’t tempt me!
