“Death Intersection” Finally Changes Direction in Marabá
“The stretch providing access to Folha 31, at the intersection with the BR-230 Trans-Amazonian Highway, is well known to those who pass through the area daily. Heavy traffic, the dip in the road level, and the drivers’ habit of using the access as a two-way street turned the area into a recurring spot for collisions, including fatalities. To reduce these risks, the Municipal Department of Urban Traffic (DMTU) implemented a simple change, but one considered fundamental for safety: the road is now exclusively one-way, allowing only the exit of vehicles toward the BR-230.”
