The section of Av. João Paulo II, between Av. Perimetral and Passagem Cosme Damião, will be reopened this Monday (15), following the successful completion of the new water main installation. The reopening of this part of the road allowed these new planned detours to be carried out in two stages. NGTM emphasizes that these temporary changes will remain throughout the month of July to continue the construction work on the new viaduct in the Metropolitan Region.
Closure on the 16th
The first temporary closure on Av. João Paulo II occurs this Tuesday (16), in the outbound direction from the capital, covering the perimeter between Tv. Dr. Enéas Pinheiro and the intersection with Av. Perimetral.
With the section cordoned off, those traveling on João Paulo II toward the city exit must access Tv. Dr. Enéas Pinheiro both to continue toward Av. Perimetral, where traffic will be two-way, and to head toward Av. Almirante Barroso, where the road becomes one-way. Drivers on Av. Perimetral whose destination is Almirante Barroso must also use Tv. Dr. Enéas Pinheiro. Drivers traveling on Av. Almirante Barroso will not be able to access Tv. Dr. Enéas Pinheiro.
Closure on the 18th
The second change will be implemented on Thursday (18), in the direction leading to downtown Belém. The change begins before Al. Osvaldo Coelho and extends to Tv. Dr. Freitas.
To bypass the cordoned section, drivers must enter a detour that will lead them to the opposite lane, which will operate as one-way. Traffic continues along this lane until the intersection with Tv. Dr. Freitas, at which point drivers will return to the original lane toward the city center.
Alternative Routes
During the period when the closures are in effect, drivers on Av. Perimetral should use Est. da Ceasa to Passagem Elvira as an alternative route to return to Av. João Paulo II. Vehicles bound for Marituba must take Av. Perimetral to Av. Liberdade to reach the municipality.

Changes are coming!Starting next Thursday (03), Pedro Álvares Cabral Ave. will become one-way towards Visconde de Souza Franco Ave.
Other surrounding roads and some bus lines will also undergo adjustments. These measures will improve traffic in the region and provide better vehicle flow.
