Hello everyone,
My name is Aleksandar, and I recently started editing the Waze map in Serbia more actively. I am currently a Level 1 editor and would like to get more seriously involved in editing and contribute to the quality of the map wherever I can.
I am a geoinformatician by profession and work with geodesy, GIS, spatial data, cartography, and related fields, so working with geometry, topology, roads, and spatial data in general is familiar to me.
Naturally, I am aware that Waze has its own rules and specifics that cannot be learned from professional GIS experience alone, so my goal is to learn how things are done here correctly and in accordance with community rules.
So far, my biggest problem is that many of my edits remain unreviewed and without any feedback. I understand that I am an L1 editor and that there are limitations for newcomers, but it is difficult for me to judge whether I am doing something well or if it should be done differently if no one reviews the changes.
I’m not chasing levels for the sake of levels; I would like to eventually be able to perform more significant edits and be someone who can truly help maintain the map in Serbia.
I am most interested in things like road geometry, connecting segments and intersections, road classification, turn restrictions, speed limits, new roads, house numbers, POIs, and general map error correction.
If there are any active editors here who could occasionally take a look at my edits or guide me when I’m unsure how something should be done, it would mean a lot to me.
Also, if there is an active Discord, Telegram, or any other channel where editors from Serbia or the region gather, I would like to join.
I am ready to start with the basics and learn the Waze rules properly through practice.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can guide me or put me in touch with active editors.
Regards,
Aleksandar
