Just a heads up that this week we have our consumer launch in the UK. That means that we’ll (hopefully!) be getting a good amount of press leading to lots and lots of new baby wazers on there on the map with you. As Waze veterans, we hope you’ll show the newbies the ropes and offer a nice welcome to them via the chit chat function. We also hope that the increased number of Wazers in your area will enable significantly better live traffic information.
Kicking off the launch tomorrow, Di-Ann Eisnor, VP of Platforms and Partnerships out our US office, will be speaking at the TechHub about Waze, focusing on connected cities, real-time data and how it changes maps and makes them actionable. If you’re into this stuff, it looks like it’ll be a real good time.
Doors open at 6:30 and the talk starts at 7pm, sharp. It’ll likely go until 8:30, with a little networking time afterwards. We’d love to invite any of you London Wazers, or relatively local Wazers who want to attend to do so - for free! You can register here with the special discount code ‘WazeVIP’.
Dror, this is both exciting and terrifying at the same time! Wish I could make it down from the frozen wastelands of the North! Are there any national press/media adverts planned?
I wish we’d had time to sort out the mess base maps had made before the official launch. Shoddy timing, but can’t be helped. Gonna be in the press and other media Tuesday apparently.
Given the recent problems I think this could be a little premature. Having said that though, some peeps seem to be doing lots of work ('cos there’s lots of work that needs to be done!) and thing should be better reasonably quickly.
1 Days notice! That’s very little…
Have fun for those going. Grab me a large mug and some window stickers please!!
I would think this has been planned and marked in the diary for a fairly long time, and that the base map import was specifically done because the launch was coming up. Obviously they weren’t expecting so many problems with it.
That being said, I do agree that us lot could have been informed about the launch slightly earlier. First I heard about it was a blog post back on Wednesday I think. Not even a full weeks notice!
