Looking at a UR near Bridge of Allan.
Reporter says Waze won’t route him along the A9 towards Dunblane.
If I do a route check from here to here you get this, 1.1 miles, 2 minutes.
If you jump one segment on and set the destination on the roundabout here you get this, 8 miles, 17 minutes.
What am I missing???
ISTR waze routing has a check for loops - i.e. it compares the straight-line distance between two parts of a route, to the route length between the two. if the ratio is too long it avoids that route (at all costs?)
e.g. the difference between this https://www.waze.com/en-GB/livemap?zoom=17&lat=56.15833&lon=-3.96319&from_lat=56.15834&from_lon=-3.96319&to_lat=56.13249&to_lon=-3.96952&at_req=0&at_text=Now and this https://www.waze.com/en-GB/livemap?zoom=15&lat=56.15951&lon=-3.96469&from_lat=56.15951&from_lon=-3.96469&to_lat=56.13245&to_lon=-3.96939&at_req=0&at_text=Now is a few metres at the beginning. the second has a shorter A9 north > M9 south loop at the beginning
he moves house a bit closer to the roundabout
Still can’t really get my head around this.
Issue still happens if you move start and/or end points further towards Bridge of Allan or Dunblane, like this.
Hi,
I’ve seen something similar.
Disconnect the segments where the speed limit changes between 40/60 midway between the starting point and the roundabout, then save. Reconnect, enable all turns, save… then wait another week for the Waze servers to update the map.
Dave
Thanks Dave.
Done what you suggested, but I think I found the problem. The 60mph stretch towards the roundabout had been checked as unpaved.
Well spotted Dave, that’ll do it. Worth a message to the L1 editor who last edited it?
