This article just came out in the NYTimes talking about potential new laws mitigating use of apps like Waze in the US…
My question is… Why doesn’t Waze partner with Dept. of Transportation?
They could be a huge help to the DoT to:
(1) Identify that their ‘hidden’ police have been spotted
(2) get real time reports of accidents and road conditions from a wide network of free volunteers and
(3) run continuous monitoring of current traffic performs for future plans.
Plus this would mitigate the need for over restrictive laws of this type of technology when the government actually is realizing the benefits of the app as well.
