Pause button

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned before, but maybe it’s an idea to ad a pause button.
If i’m standing on a parking place, or at a fuel station waze thinks there is a trafficjam.

Excellent idea. Has been mentioned before. Other suggestions include pedestrian (so Waze knows you are walking and doesn’t filter your tracks (if recording new roads) due to low speed) and bicycle.

… so Waze should stop thinking there is a trafficjam! A jam has a distinctive pattern of movement; you slow down, stop, drive slowly a short distance, stop again, drive a few meters, and only then, after some minutes and wiggling over 5-200 meters, you reach a definitive standstill. Unless, ofcourse, you were standing directly behind the reason of the jam. A stop for gas looks different: you drive, stop for a few minutes without moving a bit, then drive on again. Waze should differentiate between these two events - pausebuttons are soooo Windows!

+1!
I thought the same some time ago, what about something like a “parking mode”?

Agreed. But sadly it doesn’t all the time. In my experience, about every 2nd or 3rd gasstop it interprets it as a traffic jam. Even when, as you describe, I drive 35mph, stop at the gasstation, fill it up and after a couple of minutes drive of again at 35mph. No stop-go-stop-go-stop-go, yet a traffic jam appears.

I know it doesn’t… But it should. Another way to provoke a jam is by wazing new roads - near an existing road. Often this reports a jam on the existing road, as you are driving around 300 meters away. Waze needs improvement here, but a pausebutton or parking mode is the next thing most people will forget to use.

As a workaround, I added gas stations as parking lot roads like this one:

As stops at parking lot roads do not trigger traffic warnings, this works, as long as the client detects your turn into the gas station.

I know, I do that too. But that is never going to catch all incidental stops along a curb.

Hi all,

It’s under development.
