Using Android client I can see a list of petrol stations, but no prices. Clicking on the stations shows me the prices so does indeed look like a glitch with the search.
There are 2 petrol stations “within range” of my office. They both had prices in the last week or two, but now show none when I go to report prices.
Trying to add a stop on my route home, more than half the petrol stations show as no price on the map, but if you select them and look at the info tab, prices are there.
The station I mentioned earlier now shows prices for unleaded & diesel updated by rabbi (that’s me!) 3 hours ago. That’s correct - except that I only had time to enter the unleaded before I had to pull off from the lights.
Incidentally, I’ll have to edit that station. I originally did it, but someone has helfully snapped it to the surrounding roads - which explains why I didn’t generate a traffic report when I was stuck at the lights behind a broken-down car last week! It may also explain why my client stopped correctly routing me to take the left turn onto Whitefoot Lane and instead takes me down Whitefoot Terrace now. I won’t fix it yet though - at least until we know what’s going on with petrol stations!
That would actually be sensible and worth doing. However implementing it by apparently wiping prices in some parts and not others isn’t a good idea.
If that’s what’s happening, the client needs to consistently say something like “no recent prices” or “prices not updated for x days” - especially on the report dialogue where there’s plenty of room to say something.
I can confirm that the prices are still there if you select the station, it’s only on the list that everything more than two days old has gone missing.
I think there is something to be said for dropping really old prices, but they should be kept for more than two days. Two months would be more like it. Remember the client does tell you how old the prices are (when the server doesn’t time-out), so you can factor this into making your decision.
And finally this is yet another example of appalling customer relations from Waze. There is no excuse for deliberately making a change like this without telling people beforehand. And even if it is a cock-up, the status page should have been updated by now.
I’ve just applied the latest software upgrade to my iPhone, so now I have a third SatNav option. I think I’ll try using that on my next drive. Apple certainly aren’t perfect, but they’ve don’t seem to go out of their way to annoy their customers like Waze do.
I wonder whether it is an unexpected side effect of the pending map update on Friday ? Maybe they’ve overwritten something as they prepare for the switch over ?
I’ve yet to find a way of contacting Waze. Nothing I have tried in the past has produced a response. So, probably, no they haven’t been informed. However, surely they know that they have changed the system?
When I checked Lincoln, it was all the stations with reports older than 2 days that had prices missing in search, though the last price will still there if you browsed the “info” tab for the station.
