When driving north on I-95 to go to the Philadelphia Airport, Waze ignores the fact there is an exit on the highway for the airport. It first tells you to exit I-95 further south at Bartram Avenue. If you pass that exit, it tells you to go to Island Avenue which is past the airport. If you actually get off at the airport exit, like I did, it thinks you made a wrong turn and tries to direct you to Island Avenue to make a u-turn. Can someone fix this? This will be very confusing for those who don’t know better.
Philadelphia International Airport presents a difficult problem in that there are 3 possible entry points to the airport; from 95N, 95S, and from 291 / Bartram. Each option has a different point at which arrivals and departures separate. If the entry point is set for the 95N approach, it will cause those coming on 95S to have to loop around and vice versa. In light of that, the decision was made to have the stop point set at the 291 / Bartram Ave entry, as it provided the least circuitous path for all options. In the future, Waze may develop multiple entry points that could solve this issue, but as of now it is not an option.
With that in mind, you’ll get the best routing experience searching for Arrivals - Philadelphia International Airport or Departures - Philadelphia International Airport, it will then route you to that destination according to typical transit times. It is possible that you may still be routed via Bartram Ave if historically that has shown to be faster than taking the loop over 95.
