Plotting custom route and learning route feature

I had this asked before, but lost track.
Here I am again.

  1. My Waze proudly says “Fo Waze to learn your preferred routes, simply drive them several times”.
Well, so I did, for way more than SEVERAL times, and they are saved in my Waze as Work and Home. I always take same routes. Guess what - Waze does NOT remember that route.
    Suggestions?

  2. In Google maps, if I plot directions on the map, I can drag route line anywhere on the map, to re-route it the way I want it. Grab little white dot and move it.
How can I do same in Waze? You can’t move route line on Waze map, moves map. Suggestions?

And btw. How do I subscribe to my thread? So that I do not get it lost again? Is it “Notify me when reply is posted”?

Thank you

Waze does NOT learn routes it learns frequent destinations as well as learning information about the route you drive. See Item #31 of the Waze FAQ for more details. If there is a point where your preferred route starts working when driving, there may be an error on the map near that point.

Waze doesn’t do that. Waze uses realtime information about traffic to route you in the fastest way (depending on client settings) possible.

Yes. Or you can look up towards the top of the fourm and there is a link to “View your posts”.

  1. See https://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ#Why_doesn.27t_Waze_learn_my_routes.3F

  2. No. Waze’s purpose is to give you the fastest/shortest route without you needing to interact with it.

(3.) See the little “View your posts” near the top of the forum page? Clicking on that will list all the posts you’ve contributed to. That’s the way I find easiest to track my posts. You can bookmark it too.

Thank you both. Off to read on links.
Personally, I’d rather have ability to plot my own route, as I can in Google map. Reason being very pragmatic - I know local traffic and backroads and by far, that knowledge beats any GPS or nav s/w I have worked with.

Btw, have Waze opened in front of me.
Quote from the screen:

Tip: Teach Waze your preferred ROUTES by simply driving them several times.

Andy? Says ROUTES loud and clear.

Ok, read link. So it’s a “confusing” statement. Well, it is what it is. Would have been nice though…

The point about Routes versus Destinations has been made to Waze HQ several times. We can only keep repeating it.

From my experience, with a “mature” map (i.e. well edited, no major errors, proper road types, etc) and a descent user base in an area - Waze wins over local knowledge and other GPS app & devices. You never know when there is an accident blocking road ‘X’ when your local knowledge says that’s the fastest way.

Andy - my post was written while cooking so sorry it crossed with yours.

It happens… You’ll beat me on the next one.

It would be nice to have waze route you on your saved route that you customize and then when there is an accident blocking road ‘x’ on your way, it will re-route you automatically.
