The thing is, for some time now, whenever I try to link a place with Google, no suggestions appear in the box where they used to show up as I typed the name.
Is it no longer possible to link those places?
Is it done in a different way now?

I’ve just created a place specifically for testing, and in the “external links” box, by the fourth letter it already suggested the exact place. I think that’s what you were referring to; is the problem still persisting for you? Even if it were a place that didn’t exist on Google, it should still give you other suggestions.
Exactly, that’s what I mean. For some reason, nothing shows up for me, no matter how much I enter the full name. It might be a problem with my browser. I’ll do some testing.
Try another browser or incognito mode.
