Qatar Editing Guidelines - Wazeopedia

To streamline the growing community of Qatar editors, we’ve started to setup the Qatar Wazeopedia page to record some country-specific editing rules / guidelines, so that all of us are using the same strategy.

You can find the Qatar Main page on Wazeopedia here (former Wiki)

If you have any additions or requests, please propose them in this thread, and we can add them to the wiki!

Nice…thank you

Is it possible to add the other major districts under each municipality? So editors know which one they have to use like city and which one is not needed and can stay with the municipality name.

Or you are just waiting to have the full list? :geek:

There are also some other small mistakes:
Naming rules for city-field in Oman…i think it`s from a previous copy-paste

When naming cities inside of Doha use: <English District> Example: Mesaieed…the example is not correct since Mesaieed is far from Doha and in Al Wakra municipality  change with Mushaireb, Al Duhail, Al Waab, etc

Thanks for the review, I will update it with your comments and correct my typo

We could list all, but it might be easier to limit the ability for lower level editors to Add citynames to the map. Then once the correct names are there, people can only choose from existing cities in the area of the segment/place.

I tried to update but I had this error message

“Error loading data from server: 404: parsoidserver-http: HTTP 404. Would you like to retry?”

Anyway. For road naming, can we mention an example ?

Wiki editing is down today :frowning:

Arno, Wazeopedia is okey no typo.

But, I still discourage using district as cityname even if it is inside Doha only. I’m still guided by Shogsbro suggestion to refrain from it and wait for HQ to resolve.

Moreover, the district inside Doha is very small sometime just a few blocks and has to correspond with Zoning Number and editors should be knowledgeable enough to know the boundaries of these districts. With this development, there will be a danger of conflicting edits and a tedious one. The more we set city into sub-city or district there will be more things to watch for, it is not practical to go macro in city edits. Imagine a single road segment having a single name will be divided into several segments because it passes a different district? :x

I guess we better think first of a more appropriate remedy or we stick to the use of the official City or Municipality as proposed written in the Wiki hence, this is backup with reference.
