Railroad Crossings Blocked - Live Feed

I work for a Class I Railroad and we have developed a blocked crossing portal that identifies Blocked Crossings in real time. This is a live feed that we can present to Waze for rerouting needs. We have reached out via email several times with no response. I’m looking for a point of contact to initiate these discussions. Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

I pushed your query to the North American community manager. I look forward to being able to integrate this into Waze, but it may be a while. I first read about this smart RR crossing capabilty in Trains Magazine in 2012 or 2013.

I’m not super familiar with the Waze chat options. Is there a way to DM and share a contact name? I’d like to connect my Director who is leading this with the NA Community Manager if possible. Not looking to blast anyone with unwanted messages and also be respective of their time. Thanks for the help thus far!!! Great appreciated.

The NA Community Manager (an actual Waze employee, not a volunteer like the rest of us) passed the information along to the responsible group within the company. Out of respect for him, I did not share his email address with you, and I can only hope that Waze will be proactive in contacting you to engage in a discussion.

Question. On crossings with multiple tracks, does the live feed identify when the crossing is blocked, or when just one of the tracks is blocked? I am guessing it’s when the signals (assuming a protected crossing) are activated.

Yes, when crossings are activated but also we use the train data from other systems to locate the GPS of the locomotive, reference the length of the train for how may other crossings are affected, and speed to determine eta of clearing…
