Ramps & unfinished roads in Jordan

Dear all,

I would like to discuss two topics, basically how to proceed here in Jordan…

This segment:

I have changed it to private road as this part of the road is apparently not opened yet. From what I know, sometimes, some roads are prepared on waze map if they are not opened yet and are not classified as roads to avoid routing. Anyway, I was thinking about this part and private road seemed to me to be the best option here. I did not want to just disable the turn to this road (what was my second option) because I guess some maintainance cars might be using that road… What do you think about this? Is there some special rule for Jordan?

The second question is regarding ramps in general. In waze wiki and forums I did not find any clear answer to this particular question I have. And also, what is the correct way in Jordan… The question is when to use ramp for u-turns and when just a regular street (of the particular type). For example here:

Should not be such segments classified as Ramps? Apparently, those are just u-turns… Also, in another topic here I saw that u-turns in Jordan are really specific (I have never seen something like that in our country) - Z shape, 170 degrees, name u-turn… So, what would you say should be used for these segments that are apparently there just to allow you to make an u-turn?

I’m also not certain if these segments should be classified as ramps or streets however to date I have been leaving them marked as streets.

On the 170 degree u-turns, this is local practice (and also in Israel) from Shmupi to discourage Waze from routing through these u-turns in favour of another straighter route.

Since Waze released the prompt override possibility , we can use that option instead of the 170 degrees option BTW

First turn - U-turn prompt , second turn - none

Thanks for the example, I knew about prompt override option, I have already used it before. My question was not about sound prompt, but about the type of the road - should it be ramp or street?
Well, kambingtinggi wrote that Z shape and 170 degrees option are also necessary for routing, so this is no longer valid and I do not have to use Z shapes & 170 degrees turns for u-turns? My question basically was what are the rules in Jordan for u-turns, I know now about the sound prompts, thanks, but what about the road type/style?

No need for Z shape anymore. it was for prompts.

From what I’m aware on ROW server the segment needs to be longer than 15M

As regarding rules for U-turns in Jordan , I don’t any rule exists.

I think it should remain street and not ramp

Ok, thanks, I will use streets for them and will setup sound prompt overrides. What about the “Street” name? I would normally leave it empty (because it is actually not a street name), but I saw that you want them to be called “U-turn”, is this name syntax still valid? I thought that in this case, the name would be correctly displayed in the app only for ramps…
