Removing Neighborhood Names

Guys -

I saw on the CT to-do list that several of the towns in my area need the neighborhood names removed. Am I correct that to remove these neighborhood names you have to go street by street and to each landmark and change the town name. It will eventually remove the name from the map?

We were working on that, but Waze ran a script that messed up all the work we had done already.

I’m already working with Waze directly to do a batch fix of the City Names, it was delayed due to questions about how the new Internal Address system was going to be implemented.

I suggest leaving things alone for now, and once we get the statewide fix in place, we’re going to have some cleanup to do.

Sounds good. Thanks.

I am new to this thread but I don’t see this addressed elsewhere in the CT forum.
In rural NW CT, there tend to be several villages or hamlets within each township, and people use addresses in the hamlet with the hamlet name instead of the town name. Further complicating matters are post office addresses which do not correspond to either village or town boundaries.

In some cases, the town name is never used (e.g. town of Canaan, CT is actually the hamlet of Falls Village along with several former hamlets surrounding it – the area is known as Falls Village, and NOT Canaan. In this area, Canaan in common usage refers to the village of Canaan, which is located in the township of North Canaan.)

Another troublesome example: The Town of Salisbury includes several hamlets (Salisbury, Lakeville, Lime Rock, Amesville, Taconic) – each of which is viewed as a separate location. For example, the Lime Rock Park auto racetrack is located in the hamlet of Lime Rock, with a Lakeville Post Office address, in the township of Salisbury.

This gets problematical when trying to add locations (e.g. Lime Rock Park, or Trinity Church (across the street), or Jacobs Garage (auto repair) in Falls Village, or the Falls Village Inn (dining and accomodations) likewise in Falls Village.

Does Waze have Connecticut-specific rules or guidelines on city names in cases like this? How would I contact the appropriate level of editor to create alternative “city” names or figure out which name is the best one for each situation? Thanks for your help!

This is a topic of recent debate and we are evaluating adopting a different approach due to a small number of cases of incorrect navigation.

For now, we continue to follow the historical CT standards: The “City” property is one of the 169 cities identified by CT DOT. Villages are used only as Alt-Names

Many thanks!! I have a lot of learning to do!!
