Report issue- DPM- Nyholt Drive Stapylton

This report has been received and the details are in the report. I think this is another possible Detour Prevention Mechanism issue. https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Detour_Prevention_Mechanisms

From what I have been able to work out from the report and the reporter, the last segment where the person left the motorway was M1- Pacific Motorway, all intermediate segments are the same name, and I think the segment after where the person rejoins the Motorway is also M1- Pacific Motorway. So that is condition 1 met.

Detour is more than one segment long, so condition 2 ticked.

And I have added up the distance where I believe the reporter left the motorway (Exit 38: SR96 Jacobs Well Rd / Yatala (North), Yatala, Australia) and where waze wanted them to rejoin, which is to M1 - Pacific Mwy, Beenleigh, Australia
and I make it less than 5kms, so that is condition 3.

The reporter says that waze reported a 3 minute saving by going to service roads. So I am now wondering, why did the DPM not work in this instance, am I missing something, has the reporters driving actions caused an issue and there is actually no issue at all and the system is working as it should?

Assistance required. Feel free to read the back and forth of the report for further information as well.

You could ask whether it was exit 38. If it was exit 41 then it is more than 5km.

I have asked the reporter if it was Exit 38 or Exit 41.

If it was Exit 41, then DPM will not work as it is outside the 5km limit. And that will get me an answer to give back in lay speak.

If it is Exit 38, then it is inside the 5 kms and so where do we go with that information?

All this report information, and this thread discussion does take as fact that the reporter is correct that when the message popped up about delay on Motorway, new route suggested, 3 minute saved.

If the reporter does not have the pop up message correct and it was more than 3 minutes, then it is possible that the time saving from taking the service road route has over-ridden DPM.

Well this now explains it. The reporter exited at 41 and so the waze route was longer than 5kms, so DPM does not apply. I will explain this in lay terms to the reporter.

This now clears up what has occurred with the system.
